Olive Trees

Cedar Gully Olives has 3 groves with Kalamata, Jumbo Kalamata, Manzanillo and Frantoio (Paragon) olive trees.

Olive trees (Olea europaea) are hardy, drought tolerant and survive in different climates. Our olive trees have been left to grow unattended for at least 10 years. The trees were planted in 1997. We’re in the process of reviving the groves to produce quality olives.

We’re tackling the project one grove at a time. Each grove needs weeding and clearing, the trees need fertilising, watering and pruning.  Olive trees are malleable and react well to pruning.  They need to be reduced in height and opened in the middle to allow light and air flow.
